Why you shouldn’t miss the Oxford Indie Book Fair next Sunday
‌
‌

Why you shouldn’t miss the Oxford Indie Book Fair On Sunday 23 November.

Last year, The Oxford Indie Book Fair (OXIB) was opened by the actor, author, Chancellor of Oxford Brookes University and BBC Radio Four's Just of Minute celeb, Paterson Joseph. He was meant to stay for an hour but left four hours later because he LOVED it. That’s why he’s coming back this year to be interviewed by Richard Ovenden, Head Librarian of the Bodleian about his latest book 10 Children who Changed the World. He isn’t the only visitor who enjoyed the fair and will return. Attendance has doubled every year since we started.

‌

What’s so special about OXIB?

The impressive University Examination Schools in the heart of the dreaming spires is not normally open to the public. Local, London and Park and Ride buses (from Thornhill and Redbridge) stop outside, so it’s easily accessible.

Meet the Exhibitors

You’ll meet plenty of publishers. But they are small businesses not the 'big 5': that’s why we are Independent. Then there are the authors of fiction and non-fiction who write for every age group from tiny tots to teen fantasy to our wisest academic visitors. There are poets, artists, publishing services, writers groups, local campaigns, the Oxford Festival of the Arts, the Oxfordshire Library Service and the Story Museum.

But see for yourself:

What's On

Our main stage is in the South Hall. Come and question our guest speakers, Paterson Joseph, the acclaimed Ukrainian author, Andrey Kurkov and the fabulous panels discussing memoir and crime. Enjoy the poetry slam led by Niall Munro of the Oxford Brookes Poetry Centre and a discussion about David v Goliath in the publishing world. In the North Hall, in the smaller unamplified presentation area, are fifteen-minute book launches and children's activities including a workshop by Korky Paul.
