Exhibitor's Blog #1
‌
‌

Hi
This newsletter is exclusively for the signed-up exhibitors of the 2024 Oxford Indie Book Fair.
If you've already seen the general newsletter, you'll know that we're all set for the December Book Fair and are busy whipping up a storm to bring more people into the fair than ever before.
If you've just booked your table or are new to the newsletter, then a very warm welcome! With one HUNDRED exhibitors booked in as I write this, I know you're in good company.
You can read the previous public newsletter on the website under NEWS. We're also going to be keeping an archive of all the exhibitor's blogs on the exhibitor centre page for new exhibitors to catch up on... I'm sure you all know where that is by now!

‌

COMPLETE YOUR PROFILE

First things first though: There are still a LOT of exhibitors who have not completed their profiles and enabled it to be shown on the exhibitor directory. Go look at the EXHIBITOR DIRECTORY, scroll to the bottom to see the list of "also exhibiting". You need to check the tick-box at the bottom of the profile edit form once you've finished writing all about yourself or nobody will see it. We've improved the profile editor to make it easier to use. It's a fantastic opportunity for all the potential visitors to find out more about you, see your book, click on a web link to your website or book - you could be making sales even before the fair opens!

THE BIG SCREEN

If you were at the Book Fair last year, you'll have seen the giant screen behind the stage. Well, we've got TWO of those this year. The giant one in the North Hall, the plasma screen in the upper lobby and the entrance hall will be running your adverts on a continuous loop. The other giant screen at the stage in the South Hall will run the ad-loop between sessions to a seated and waiting audience. If you want your advert or video on the big screens then click the button below to find out more and book your slot - it's only £25. We'll also post the ad-roll to the homepage of the website where it will remain for all to see until the next event in the summer time.

BIG SPENDER!

We're spending THOUSANDS of pounds this year on advertising, as well as an intensive paid social media campaign which will send even more traffic to your profile on the Book Fair website. But we also need YOUR help to spread the word. Start posting in your social media NOW. Tag us on Twitter(X) @OxIndieBookFair and we'll follow, like and share your posts. We've got some social media graphics already put together that you can download and use. It's all in the Exhibitor Centre, or course.

Each week in the public blog, we'll be spotlighting a genre of writing, maybe even picking one or two of you as an example of what makes a great exhibitor.
To help with this, we've added more categories to the profile editor. Take a moment to review these and check any that apply to you (though just the relevant ones, don't check them all!)
In Friday's blog, we'll be talking about Children's authors and the activities we've laid on for kids and younger readers. So if you're a children's author then don't forget to check the box on your profile!

As well as hitting the socials hard, we're sending out targeted leaflet drops around Oxford... Over twenty THOUSAND of them plus something very exciting in association with the bus company that literally just came in! More on that next week then.

All the best, and don't forget the promotion STARTS NOW!

Andy, Sylvia, James, Felicity Ray and Shona
