Update for exhibitors

Dear Exhibitor,

Thank you for booking your place on the first Oxford Indie Book Fair, April 4.
In promoting the event, we have secured articles in the Oxford Mail and Times and in Ox Magazine. Round and About magazine is sponsoring and promoting the Fair. We will be buying banners and advertising in Daily Information. We’ll also be printing a large quantity of fliers, some of which will go in the Town Hall, as the Lord Mayor is opening our event. We will distribute many in the vicinity of the Blackwell Marquee during the Literary Festival, taking place at the same time. In addition we hope to generate more publicity in the press and on local radio.

BUT YOU CAN HELP A LOT

Nowadays, word spreads on social media. The organisers will be posting regularly. It would be great if you facebook, Instagram, tweet or just email friends. If every exhibitor attracts 10 people, that will generate 500 visitors. If you can distribute flyers to friends, in your local library etc, please let us know. Andy is posting your photographs and information on the website as you send them in. You should share the website link on social media and highlight your entry.

We are working hard to promote this non-profit making event and appreciate all the help you can provide in publicising it.

THE PROGRAMME / BOOKLET

We are printing and publishing a 36 page, A5 size, full colour booklet, two weeks before the event. As well as using it to promote the fair it will also be given free to visitors on the day. All exhibitors and performers will be included in the listings and you are asked to send in a 35 word (approx.) description for your own entry. (Written in the third person). This needs be sent without delay to James Harrison at: oxfordfolio@gmail.com.
We have attracted some generous sponsors who have donated £100 plus for a full-page in the programme. We are offering you as a paid up exhibitor, a half-page advertisement for only £15, or £20 for a full-page.

Here is a full-page example:

If you would like an illustrated display page or half-page, please let us know asap. (The website will be updated regularly, where you will find links for payments and information for exhibitors.) From now on we will be focusing on promoting the event and attracting visitors on the day.

ACCESS ON THE DAY

You should be able to access the halls from 9.00 am and it could be good to stagger the loading. It is possible to unload at the side of the church and on street so long as you do it quickly and then move the car.

PRESENTATION

We will post a layout plan of exhibitors in the halls on the website and in the programme. Please think about the presentation of your stand because it makes a lot of difference if you want sales. Piles of books for sale is an obvious ingredient, but posters and flyers are also selling aids and enhance the stand (see the example below from the Kennington Book Fair last November)
Authors and publishers with e-books only can represent their work with seductive printed material, and even computer screen.

Together we can make the first Oxford Indie Book Fair a great success.

Best wishes,

Andy, James, Ray and Sylvia
